The rules have changed in Iowa this year. Unless you’re prepared, you may not be able to vote in the 2024 presidential caucuses.

As the Iowa 2024 presidential caucuses rapidly approach, it is crucial that you seize this opportunity to make your voice heard and actively participate in shaping our state’s future.

Republican Presidential Caucus
The Republican presidential caucus is in-person only on the evening of Monday, January 15. Caucus locations will be published in the weeks prior to the caucus. You can register to vote and participate the day-of the caucus by showing up to your caucus location and presenting a set of documents from the list below.

Democratic Presidential Caucus
This caucus is 100% mail-in and you will need to request a presidential preference card by no later than Monday, February 19.

What to Bring With

To same-day register for the GOP caucus, the voter must show up at the location and present evidence of 1) who they are, and 2) where they reside.

  • Iowa driver’s license with current address will satisfy both requirements. If not:
  • Proof of identity containing a photo and expiration date:
    • Iowa non-driver identification card
    • Out-of-state driver’s license or non-driver identification card
    • U.S. passport
    • U.S. military ID
    • ID card issued by your employer
    • Student ID issued by an Iowa high school or college
  • AND Proof of residence:
    • Residential lease
    • Utility bill (including a cell phone bill)
    • Bank statement
    • Paycheck
    • Government check
    • Other government documents
